Dear Stammtisch Friends
We would like to invite you to our next Stammtisch, which will take place in the new Kaffeehaus Amadeus in Lanchester, County Durham. It only opened last December and is a joint venture of Austrian Bernhard Nausner and German Anna Groendahl, who specialises in chocolates and truffels – click here for her website.
Bernhard will open his cafe a little bit longer for us on Thursday, 5 June 2014 from 5.30pm – 7.30pm. On the menu will be typical Jause or Vesper (bread, sliced meats, cheeses) together with their home baked cakes. Please let me know if you’re coming so that we know for how many people they will need to cater for (by latest Tuesday, 3 June).
Another cafe recently opened in Heaton that I can recommend for its rye bread – Baobab Bakery in Chillingham Road (close to the Coast Road end), but check with Ann for what she’s got on the shelves on the day (Ann also runs Doughworks, the bread making workshops). The Journal recently had a great article on Baobab Bakery – click here to find out more.
For fans of Germany’s Comedy Ambassador to Great Britain, Henning Wehn has announced dates for his next shows here in the North East on 20 and 21 September – click here for details.
If you like your German movies, then you may want to put the Edinburgh International Film Festival in your calendar. Germany is one of the two key countries and its national cinema will be highlighted from 18 – 29 June.
Our partner in Leipzig, the creative James Parsons, is currently undertaking his second crowdfunding project for a bi-lingual children’s book. His first featured ‘Daniel and the Cheeky Monkeys’, while his second project follows the ‘Leipzig Adventures of Viktor and Noonoo‘, which are again based on one of his sons and his fascination with a roadsweeper.
And if you can’t wait until our next Stammtisch, simply join us at ‘Pleased to meet you’ in Newcastle’s city centre for our monthly InterNations get-together. This trendy bar is a must for anybody that likes their Gin & Tonic as they have a fantastic choice. We meet on Tuesday, 27 May from 6pm onwards. You’re all welcome to join our very international group!
Enjoy the sunshine!
Endlich !!!
Habe in Rotstift notiert. Ankunft bis 17.30 H wird allerdings sehr knapp sein.
Iain
